Switch the Motion, Change the Outcome

Switch the Motion, Change the Outcome

Sometimes, it’s not about what product you use—but how you apply it. Simple brush techniques can be the secret to a flawless finish, and today we’re highlighting three underrated methods that can level up your entire routine.

Tap, don’t swipe. Press, don’t drag. Little brush tricks = big results.

The Trick: Switch the Motion, Change the Outcome

Tip 1: Press, Don’t Swipe
Pressing product into the skin with a dense brush helps build natural-looking coverage without streaks. Great for foundation, concealer, and even powder. Swiping too much can lift product or create uneven texture.

Tip 2: Stipple for Soft Focus
A stippling motion (a light tapping or bouncing) creates a soft, airbrushed effect. Use it for blush, highlighter, or blending creams when you want the product to sit naturally on the skin.

Tip 3: Tap to Set, Don’t Dust
When applying setting powder, gently tap it in rather than brushing it across the face. This locks in product, minimizes texture, and helps reduce creasing—especially under the eyes.

Why It Works: Application technique is what separates a good look from a seamless one. Switching up your motions can maximize your products and minimize frustration.
